Design & Build
A few general notes...
When you speak to Heritage Oak Frames, you will be speaking with a small, dedicated team of highly effective people, who really care about the quality of our service. You will always be given a single point of contact who you can get in touch with any time, reducing the 'confusion' often experienced when dealing with large firms.
The design & build process varies from building to building, but here's an example of the process for a house or extension:
What is the design process for my building?
The process typically goes like this:
1) Make contact with us and start discussing your ideas. We will then draw up a project proposal, or for more complex projects refer you to a specialist architect.
2) Your bespoke design proposal will be presented to you, and you will be given the option to discuss this with us and/or the architect and make any alterations to the general scope of the design. At this point you will be given a quotation for our involvement in the build, and estimated costs for others' works should you need them.
3) Apply for planning permission - this can be done in whole or in part by ourselves for a fee, some of which is redeemable against the eventual cost of the works we do.
4) Planning permission granted - we then start to design the new building in all its fine detail. This process is intended to show you every detail of the proposed works, and provide us and other trades with the necessary information to complete the build, including (if required) structural calculations.
OK, my design is complete - what next?
Once your design is complete, we will order the required materials and begin crafting the oak frame and any other associated works in our workshop.
At the same time, you will be provided with information to manage the project such as a project timeline, information and details for other trades and updated costing information if anything has changed in the design process.
Once the Oak frame and any other associated works have been completed, and your ground-works are finished, our site team will come in and erect your building in usually just a few days. If you are having other works such as an encapsulation system (external walls and roof) or joinery, this will be installed immediately after the oak frame, providing you with a quick, time and cost effective solution to the build.
